This week's favorites are books in a paranormal or fantasy series!
The Mediator by Meg Cabot
I've read quite a few books by Meg Cabot (I was obsessed with The Princess Diaries when I was in fifth grade!) but The Mediator series is by far my absolute favorite by her! The narrator, Suz, can see dead people and is just trying live a normal teenage life. On top of moving to a new town and trying to adjust to life at a new school she also has to deal with the hot ghost, Jesse, that haunts her bedroom. She's one of my all time favorite main characters, her voice is incredible and she knows how to kick some major butt! (My review of the series.)
Morgan Rawlinson by Maryrose Wood
I just started this series (I've only read the first book Why I Let My Hair Grow Out) and totally loved it. In the first book Morgan was sent to Ireland on a biking trip to get over her ex-boyfriend. While on her trip she not only discovers the beauty of Ireland, but also uncovers Irish folklore! Wood has an incredibly realistic teen voice and Morgan is so funny! Love it! (My review of book one.)
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Once again, I've only read the first book, but oh my goodness! It's one of my all time favorites! Taylor's writing is perfection and the main character Kauro is in a very unique circumstances set in beautiful Prague. So much happens in the first book, but it never feels like an overload of information. I've heard amazing things about book two and can't wait to read it! (My review of book one.)
The Iron Fey by Julia Kagawa
I absolutely love this series! I was able to easily put myself in the magical Nevernever and experience all things fey with Megan. I also loved the hot fairy boys: Ash and Puck! I loved Megan's courage and how she would do anything to protect the ones she loved. I read the first three books right after another, I just couldn't stop, it was that awesome!
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
You've probably seen this series around a lot, but it's definitely worthy of all the hype. I recommend reading it before the movies come out because Clare's world building is perfect. Honestly, it already feels like I've 'seen the movie' because I have such clear pictures of Clary's world in my head. I've read the first three and can't wait to read number four! (My review of book one.)
Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers
I know I'm constantly raving about these books, but seriously they are so amazing! They're told from two point of views: Luc and Frannie. Luc is a demon who is on a mission to get Frannie, an anything but average teenage girl, tagged for Hell. Little does Luc know that he'll quickly fall under Frannie's spell. Throughout the entire series each character grows a tremendous amount and you can't help but fall in love with each of them. There's big amounts of adventure, romance, suspense and absolute hilarity! (My review of book one.)
