My mom and I are on a mission to find my next bookstore. After Borders closed a year or so ago and last month my Barnes and Noble closed I need a new bookstore. I'm a very picky person when it comes to bookstores and pretty much any public place. For my new bookstore I want it to have tons of awesome books, lots of space, nice employees/ customers and somewhere I can go by myself if I'd like.
-It was huge. Every nook and cranny was filled with books. It was like a maze.
-There was a cafe.
-Books I've never heard of and lots of history books. Good place to get my dad a gift.
What I Didn't Like:
-High prices (Most of the books were used and they were going for full retail.)
-There was lost of dust and a dead fly on the books. I sneezed too much.
-Too far away, definitely not somewhere I'd want to go alone (I'd totally get lost on the way there).
-Have you ever been to Ikea? If you haven't it's seriously like a maze with only one way out. The rooms were small, but stacked with shelves of books. I both liked this and didn't.
-I felt like I was trapped sometimes and had no idea where to get out. I hated that! I need to know where all exits are at all times and I couldn't tell who was in the next room or if someone was coming or not. I think that's just me and my social phobia though, yeah probably!
-The cafe was flipping packed and the table were right next too each other.
-It was very loud, as you got deeper in the book maze it got a little quieter, but there was a lot of drifters from the restaurant just lazing around and blocking the books while talking about their daughter-in-law's bad cooking or about their gel shoe inserts.
-It was freaking HOT in there. I know it was a heck of a lot warmer than usual for a January afternoon, but come on, crack a window! I thought I was going to turn into ash!
-The staff wasn't that friendly and the customers were rude. No one said 'excuse me' and there were very grabby. Like please don't put your veiny hand in front of my face when I'm looking at books. I do not what to smell your Elizabeth Taylor perfume, I mean really!
Definitely not my next bookstore, thought I'm glad I went. It was interesting to see a completely different type of bookstore from what I'm used to and a very fun day out with my mom.
Thank you to my amazing mom for making this a fun adventure. It makes me feel a lot better about my other bookstores closing. Love you! (She doesn't read my blog, but whatever haha!)
